SC Wave Parent Expectations

On the sidelines. In the stands. Always. Parents play a vital role in our players' growth โ€” these standards apply every day.

01

Represent SC Wave with pride.

Parents are expected to represent SC Wave positively by holding themselves to SC Wave's high standards and leading by example.

02

Show respect to everyone.

Parents are expected to respect all players, coaches, officials, and fans โ€” both of SC Wave and of our opponents.

03

Do not speak at officials or the opposing team.

Parents are expected to refrain from speaking at any officials or members of the other team.

04

Be encouraging and positive.

Parents should encourage and be positive with all players, regardless of the moment or result.

05

Use PlayMetrics for everything.

All parents MUST use the PlayMetrics app for all team communication and updates.

06

Program your coach and managers into your phone.

Please program your team's coach and managers into your phone so you can communicate any late arrivals for training, games, or tournaments.

07

Stay off the training fields.

Parents are to remain off the training fields when our teams are training and should not be watching training from along the sidelines. This ensures the best possible training environment for our players by eliminating outside factors that could affect a player's development and decision making.

08

Sit on the opposite side of the team benches.

Parents are to remain on the opposite side of the team benches for all games and tournaments.

09

Leave the coaching to the coaches.

Please refrain from giving coaching instruction or tactical information to the players โ€” that is what the coaches are for. Stick to giving words of encouragement and instilling a passion and enjoyment for the game of soccer in your player.

10

Follow the 24-hour rule for concerns.

Parents who have a concern with a coaching decision or action should first speak with their child to see if there was any communication between the player and the coach. If the issue was not resolved between the player and coach, parents are asked to wait 24 hours from the completion of the event before contacting the relevant coach.

โฐ

The 24-Hour Rule: At a tournament, wait 24 hours from the completion of the last game before reaching out. Emotions run high after competition โ€” give everyone time to process before starting a conversation about a coaching decision.

SC Wave holds everyone associated with our club to the highest level both on and off the field. All parents are expected to abide by the expectations stated above. Our players are a direct reflection of the high standards we hold as both coaches and parents.

Lead by example โ€” on the sidelines, in the stands, and in every conversation about the game.
